Foyer Lighting Tips
Foyer (entry) lighting greets your guests. Having layers of lighting in the entry way can create a welcoming atmosphere as well as provide security lighting.
For lower ceilings (8-10 feet) a semi flush or flush mount fixture at the door is all that is required. Do watch the height of the fixture as some may hang too low and will interfere with the door.
Higher ceilings in the foyer are a great place for a decorative chandelier. If you have a stairway coming off your foyer do consider the location of the fixture so as to fully light both areas.
Accent lights such as potlights, rope light or puck lights can be used in nooks to create a soft glow in the evenings.
Step lighting can be installed along the wall to ensure safety when coming home at night.
