Great Room Lighting Tips
Recessed lighting is very common in a great room/living room. It is best for general illumination and helps combat shadows and glares. We suggest having these lights on a dimmer switch to be able to control light levels. With the advancement in LED technology, there are many energy efficient, low profile styles available.
Lamps should create cozy pools of light. The height of table lamps may be dependent on the height of your side table. You should not be able to see the neck of the light bulb when seated next to it. Same goes for floor lamps.
With higher ceilings you may want to consider a ceiling fan for better airflow. Ceiling fans may not provide sufficient lighting but are great when paired with potlights and lamps.
